The Song Path – Make a Video
Written by Andy Patterson
Gone are the days of MTV and multi-million pound videos, eclipsing the recording budget of the whole album for one single video.
But that doesn’t mean the video is dead – the major proliferation of YouTube has resulted in a more open playing field..
So, from the quirky videos of OK Go –
to the guitar led antics of Walk the Earth and their one guitar acrobatics for their Gotye cover:
You can make a video on any budget – and a Youtube account is free, technology is cheaper than it used to be, so have a go at it yourself. The Walk the Earth video succeeds at being visually interesting throughout the whole video – which is the aim – draw the viewer in, and then they start to think – ‘What is this amazing music that is accompanying the video?’ (or words to that effect)..
If you have no inclination to make your own video, then there are a huge amount of young filmakers out there wanting to make a video.. Yes this costs money, but it can be to your own budget… Check out the site Radar Music Videos where you can write a brief and attach a budget to it. Budding directors look at the briefs and then pitch for the job. Its a meeting place of ‘people wot want to make videos, and people wot want videos’.
Simples.
If you have a video of your own that you want to show us then post it below in the comments – we’ll feature the best of them on Abubilla Music.
