Gap in the market?

Written by

Robbie Williams did a swing album. Jaime Cullum’s latest is being fairly heavily publicised, as is Michael Buble’s. Olly Murs of X-factor losing fame obviously had quite a penchant for swing numbers (and tight trousers that caused him to dance like Elvis after an epidural).

Yet the majority of swing and Jazz albums are made up of The Great American Song Book and only a few originals (Jamie Cullum, Diana Krall etc. Obviously there are loads of Jazz artists out there writing their own stuff, but I’m thinking about the ones who are “making it big” and being pushed by the record co’s).

Think I’ll give it a go – Tommy Come Home and Too Many Weddings (thanks Andy) is getting there, let’s see if we can do a whole host more of cool, Jazzy, jamming swing tunes for the modern day.
