A series of fun and cool useless little things…
Written by Ed Stone
Very cool tracks. Useless Stuff. I’m proud.
So useless little things…that I have been storing up over the past week or so (unintentionally – all driven by a current lack of time and excess fun things finding their way into my inbox).
We shall begin with a brilliant mash up of Travis and loads of other random tunes. Someone must have spent a seriously long time doing this, so be sure to appreciate it in all it glory!
Now, next in my magical mystery tour, we have a re-discovery of a song. I was originally introduced to this tune by complete accident – I downloaded a bootlegged pre-release of the Oasis album Don’t Believe the Truth (yes, I know, I’m a sad man for loving Oasis quite as hard as I do, but I always used to hold out hope that they would one day create another Definitely Maybe/ Whats the Story/ Be Here Now (second set of brackets – I love Be Here Now, the sound of ‘5 guys on cocaine’)). On this pre-release album, however, someone had replaced the tune (forgive the rubbish live version – all I could find!) with this track that sounded like it might just about be Liam singing (nasal and no vibrato etc.), but was just too tribal and spacey to be Oasis. And it was the best track on the whole album!
After muchos forum searching, I discovered the track was by a band called “And you will know us by the trail of dead” and the track was from their new album, to be released around the same time as Oasis. I don’t know if someone at the record label messed up when putting the bootleg together, or whether this was a clever piece of pre-marketing, but I sure liked it. Liked it so much I forgot about it, until Jimmy sent around a link about various bands, one of which was the afore mentioned “And you will know us…”, which rang bells and back I went to listen to the track. It rocks.
Final stop is a nice and simple Joke.
