Babymix

Written by

Am a bit ashamed it’s taken me way too long to write this first blog, but then again things has been a bit quiet in my music-land…

Due to different circumstances it’s been a while since we had a good jam session with the amateur (but fun!) band I’m a part of, my singing lessons have been on the backburner due to work & (public) holidays and I haven’t stumbled upon a new music ‘Gems’ in a while.

However… I feel like I’m getting back on track a bit! As I’m expecting my first child this summer and I’ve heard babies react after-birth really well to music they were exposed to I’ve been going through my music library to create the perfect i-Tunes playlist ‘Babymix’! It contains all my favorites (and I never realized I have so many!)… from real Dutch tearjerkers (e.g. Marco Borsato, Acda & deMunnik) to more ‘pure’ American  (e.g. the Hook – Bluestravelers), and foreign tunes (like Ne me quitte pas – Jacques Brel and Wie vor Jahr und Tag – Reinhard Mey), and from some of my favorite gems (Just like a Woman – Nina Simone version, It ain’t me babe – Johnny Cash version, The Promise – Tracy Chapman, I’m on your Side – Maria Mena etc etc etc) to songs my mom used to sing when I was a baby (e.g. The last Farewell – Roger Whitaker).

So… even if the little one won’t remember a thing once it gets born at least his mom has had a great time listing to the Babymix on ‘repeat all forever’

Love from Amsterdam,
Bianca
