As a special ‘Tweet treat’ for the members of the Birds Nest, we have the original recording of “Big Old Bird”.

By original version, I mean… well we need to tell the full story of the song’s development….

So, picture the scene. The Abubilla Spanish Winter Jam 2010. Andy is staying in the studio, which is practically next door to the bedroom where Jimmy is sleeping soundly. Not realising that Jimmy’s room is next door, and thinking that he could make as much noise as he wanted, Andy puts the iMac on, opens Spotify and makes a bit of noise (whatever tune it was escapes me right now…). After the first chorus, the door opens to reveal a shocked Jimmy in spectacles rather than contact lenses asking ‘What’s going on?’. So after a short while, Jimmy came back with booze and a song, and after about 10 minutes, Big Old Bird was born…

So, to save switching everything on, we recorded it using the voice recorder on Andy’s mobile, and it is this (slightly edited) that we release to you now!
