How To Guide: Increasing Traffic to Your Website (Internet Strategy)
Written by Richmond - Hunter
This blog is part of the series on Digital Strategy and is the first report back on Increasing Traffic to your website.
Increasing traffic to your website can be a very difficult thing to do. If you take the route of advertising and sending links to your stuff on different websites, it is essential to draw the line between eager and annnoying.
The sad truth of the matter is that the quality of your music is simply not enough to get you known, I can think of countless artists with incredible talent but no one has ever heard of them, i’ll save them for my next song discovery blog.
So here is a list of some keys things to do:
1: Social Networking- This cannot be stressed enough. If you’re going to have a facebook you must flesh it out as much as possible. Every update on your website, post it on the facebook, make it as engrossing as possible. Facebook is essentially a user based site, so competitions etc. are very good in order to try to get people involved. the more you post the more traffic you make on people’s homepages.
2: Music Forums- there is a whole world of music forums and sites devoted to finding new artists. Abubilla Music would be strongly advised to become members on these sites. This site is a very good example of this sort of thing.
3: Try to get your stuff reviewed. There are many websites out there which are willing to anything and everything sent to them, not only does this give you feedback on your stuff, but it also allows for you to get people listening.
4: Interact with other artists- If there is anyone out there who you like, a collaboration is a very good idea. This allows for you to get known via their fanbase. One good example is, a while back Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys collaborated on the song “Temptation“, this gave Dizzee a whole world of new fans and was intsrumental in his rapid growth.
5: Have That One Youtube hit- Obviously this is probably the most difficult thing to implement. A huge amount is based on luck. But if you keep trying to churn out creative fun videos eventually you should find one that sticks, and you could be the next “Ok Go“.
6: Keep your online aesthetic constant- This is probably Abubilla Music’s strongest suit, we just have to make sure to make sure everything looks like it’s from the same source.
7: Get your music available on itunes and spotify and other services. The more websites which contain your content the better, this will allow you to really go up on the google searches.
8: Post your lyrics online- This is a bit of a strange one but it works. If every song’s lyrics can be viewed from ten different lyric websites it will be mean that when someone searches for a specific song it won’t only be one site which comes up. “SongMeanings” is a good place to start.
