Pokey La Farge

I hate Facebook. But a friend recommended Pokey La Farge’s lates video. Loved it. Still hate Facebook.
So, here’s a little bit about Pokey La Farge. First, the music:
1. Pokey and Joey, Kicking It: This was my initial exposure to good ol’ Pokey.
Love the song, and love the video. We’ll need to get our partner good ol’ Greg to start exploring local jails for our next video.
2. So I started to poke around about Pokey. He’s cornered the market on Riverboat soul music, all harmonicas and kazoos. Cornering a market is cool. Riverboat music is all right by me. So here’s to Pokey:
3. Songs About Pets. For those of you who have followed us for a while, you know that our London studios are filled with pets — Sammy the Angry Cat, Toby and his Stones, and Lewie the minature purse dog. So it seems appropriate that our next entry from Pokey is called: The Cat’s Got the Measles and the Dog’s Got the Whooping Cough.
4. Mr Nobody. This is a wonderful live performance, and something that we need to try to replicate in Pretty Bad Agents.
5. So, that’s an intro to Pokey. But I had to check this ‘cornering of the market’ for Riverboat Soul. Sadly, not fully true. Can I introduce you also to the Riverboat Soul Band – what happens when Wilson Picket runs into Pokey? You get the song Mess Up.
