In light of my recent post on Ketebul and its exciting work over in Kenya, I thought it might be a good idea to link you all up quickly to a site that might shed a little light on Afrobeat. Although its roots lie in ancient tribal music, the genre of Afrobeat itself was only really made popular in the 70s and has been enjoying its place on the international music stage since then.
I thought this might make for interesting lunchbreak reading…
It mentions a blog called Awesome Tapes from Africa which I’ve been looking at this morning which offers a really mouthwateringly massive wealth of music to get stuck into. I recommend it too 🙂
