The Band are Really Scary
Written by Hannah
It’s last Saturday. So I’m sitting at my laptop, petting Lewie, maybe I was making tea, getting rid of Toby, something. Usual.
Mike then comes in, tells me to listen to Kimya Dawson. I really like her, later I’ll go home and download her songs, especially My Rollercoaster and the one that’s like “Scotty liked all of the books that I recommended, even if he didn’t I wouldn’t be offended”. Yeah. So I’m listening to that and then he comes in again and tells me that I am needed in the studio.
Okay.
I go in. Andy and Jimmy then tell me to sit down on the chair. The special music chair. Sophie and Mike giggle and I am further intimidated. Jimmy tells me Andy is my director and to do what he says. Andy tells me to sing and do jazz hands, they play me ‘She Knows’ which has a cool chorus with ‘Ooo-aas’ in. He tells me to think gospel choir.
I tremble and decide that the band are really scary.
Then I sing something, I can’t hear what it is, luckily the band knew I’d be rubbish because I had already warned them. I did jazz hands, for She Knows, nearly fell off the special chair.
Then Jimmy says ‘lets go for the real soprano stuff now’. Why did I tell him I was a soprano? That was silly, because it takes me half an hour to warm up. I pretend I’m confident, I sing more oos and aas, I keep doing jazz hands and Andy does thumbs up. I am then dismissed.
Now I know that The Band are Really Scary.
You’ve been warned.
And she wasn’t rubbish. And you’ll hear her on She knows. but we are really scary. Especially Martyn. He gets all tangled up in cables and falls about the place. Like a Charles Manson slinky!

I wasn’t giggling at you! I was giggling at Mike, principally, and at Jimmy’s hat. Many MANY apologies if came over as intimidating, totally unintentional, thought you were GREAT, and great to have another recruit to Team Girls with myself and Lou, to keep those mean boys at bay.
First time I played with them, they wouldn’t stop talking about constipation…

Haha no I know you weren’t Sophie, I’m just a big scaredy cat when it comes to the studio! I better get over it soon.
