This Week in the Studio: 10.02.20

Just two boys and two girls and two dogs and 1 cat and 713 doorbells…but we think we’ve cracked Invading London.
Half Studio Day, with Imo arriving at 1030 and Jimmy finally answering the door at 1045. Luckily she had a cold and it was freezing outside. Not the best start. But after a cuppa hot tea, we adjourned to the Studio and spent about 3 hours putting down Imo’s vocals for Invading London (not London Calling…. Now the ‘problem’ with Imogen is that she can perfectly track her own vocals, so we were doing FIVE overdubs for all her verses and chorus’s. And all were spot on the same. So it took awhile, but she was a trooper and changed the tune quite a bit and made the song much, much better. We even sorted a little vocal exchange to complement Mikey’s Beat Box from last week. So all good, Imo left happy and we went on to second part of day.
Hunter arrived for his first day of work at Abubilla (our second intern after Callen of summer of 2009) and began his study of how starting musicians are using the web, specifically Face Book and youtube – like OK Go, A Million Ways. He’ll write a couple blogs later so watch this space. Then Lou came over and we did a lot of ‘to do’ stuff, which makes her frequently shout at me. I could say I’m getting used to it, but no… not really. Scary.
And that was it — short, quick, effiicient. Not the chaos of the previous weeks. Gee, if I could sing or play an instrument, or had an ounce of talent, I’d say I’d prefer a solo career. But no, back to Pizza orders — watch Papa John’s stock price. I imagine it will be hit hard this week by a lack of Abubilla Music revenue.
