This Week in the Studio: 10.05.29
Written by Jimmy
Off a plane from Singapore, Jimmy is greeted with Jam Jars by the dozen, Andy in the middle of a massive studio clean up and Martyn determined to finish Another Day for Nick.
So four things you need to know:
- We finished Another Day, formally Sun’s Up, or Nick’s Song. Introduced last week in our only post pizza bit of creativity, we wanted to get some more Martyn guitars down. A little fun and joy as Andy and Martyn argued about the ‘distortion’ button and how loud or soft the beginning of the song was going to be. But we survived – and bounced the song over to Martyn.
- Andy and I went thru a big performance credits review of all the songs, discovering two little suprises: Andy retained his drummer credit to the very end and little Hannah, out of no where gets 4-5 bvox credits. No wonder she’s so rubbish at giving us tea – she spends all her time ‘singin’ behind the shield.’
- Our kitchen turned into a bad episode of I Love Lucy (see video of Lucy in Cake Factory below), with Steph, Rob and Hannah creating the cover of our new CD, Misery Marmalade and Other Spanish Jams. Our former fearless leader, Lou, had the wonderful idea of filling our CD Cover with pictures of Jam Jars, with special labels for each of our song. And then she skipped off to acting fame, leaving the rest of us trying to execute on it. But thanks to fantastic responses on the Jam Jar Competition, we got a lot of great label submissions. And Saturday was spent photographing Jam Jar labels. It is not clear that any of Jimmy’s dead fly submissions survived.
- We had a massive dispute about Website 3.0, which will be designed in June by Wes. Andy, having had way too much coffee and having gotten all exitable after a studio clean up, led the way, fighting his corner for a new design. Jimmy got confused when the conversation went back and forth between ‘our music’ and ‘Bananas.’ But we settled on Everything Else for some reason which made everyone happy. We will assume this becomes clear at some point.
