11.12.30 This Week in the Studio

Written by

A final set of studio sessions for 2011.  We are working on Tati’s second album, although we don’t want to distract from the release of her first album – on January 22nd at the Half Moon launch.

The Music:  Over two days the band (Mike, Rob, Tati, and little Sam) recorded five songs:

  1.  “This is About God” (working title):  a lovely song with Tati on Keys, Rob on Bass, Mike on Drums and little Sam on backing vocals.  We call this ‘latvian gospel’, with about 80 backing vocal tracks.
  2. “Cat Boyfriend”:  a wonderful romantic song about… well… a cat.  Not even Tati’s cat.  A stray cat in her dorm.
  3. “He likes Boys’:  well, not a cat.  But a romance song with someone with apparently different gender preference (turns out not to be true).  Tati plays the clarinet and Sam provides great Bvox.  Mike rolls his eyes.  Nice Uk in chorus.
  4. “Call Me”:  A true romance song, with two humans… a nice little number that we jacked up to 167 RPM.  Once we get guitars we’re ready to release!
  5. “How Can I Get Across The River?”  Great simple song that we’ve currently recorded sans instruments (well, actually, the keys had a hiss so Jimmy muted them).

Everything Else:  We add pizza.  Lewie barked.  Toby looks better after surgery.    Not much else really.

And finally, Stray Cat Stut in honour of Tati’s Cat Boyfriend:
