This Week in the Studio: 11.04.30

We started the weekend celebrating a Royal Wedding and continued right thru to Saturday in the Studio, working on another song by Michael, called TV.
The Music: Short studio day, focusing on Michael’s new band (Name, TBD), which involved Michael on lead guitar and vocals, Doug on bass and Tom on Drums. Mike and Rob both coached. Goal was to record a demo that the group could play live, i.e., only 3 instruments. Michael put down the guitar first, followed by vocals and then drums and bass followed. We did about three rounds of each as we worked on final song structure. TV has a nice Vaselines feel with constant guitar flowing thru:
And on the subject of Vaselines, this song was covered brilliantly by Kurt Cobain in Nirvana’s Unplugged sessions:
Everything Else: We are all enjoying the London ‘summer’ and pizza was enjoyed outside. Conversation was mostly about the Royal Wedding and various conspirancy theories to explain Eurgenia and Beatrice’s outfits. Theory 1: They looked like that on purpose in revenge for their mother not being invited to the wedding. Theory 2: Their ‘handlers’ at the Palance encouraged them out of further Palace Revenge against their mother. Theory 3: They are as stupid as they look. Please vote. Here are the shots:
