12.01.21-22 This Week in the Studio

A quick update on our studio work this weekend, starting with rehearsal time on Saturday, followed by a Sunday morning with Tati. We did two songs – Misrepresentation and I’m Not Gay.
Now, this all leads to a funny story. Last week we talked about Sam joining the studio – young Sam is about 13-14. He spent the day working on two of Tati’s songs, He Likes Boys and Cat Boyfriend. The first is about liking a boy that turns out liking other boys (she thinks he was gay when she wrote the song, but it turns out he wasn’t). The second is about falling in love with a stray cat in her dorm (that subsequently died). So poor Sam listens to all this and contributes wonderful backing vocals.
Later, I meet Sam’s dad at a social event who emphasizes that Sam loves the studio. The Dad then says that Sam was quite sad about the lyrics Tati was singing. He told his Dad, ‘We spent most the afternoon singing about poor Tati’s gay cat.”. Bless.
