12.11.24 This Week in the Studio

Written by

Desptie the fact that we’re winding down our time in Richmond studio, we had a very busy day, with lots of fiddles and lots of fiddling as we prepare for Uganda.

The Music

This is the time of over-dubbing as we prepare the fifth album of the Saturday Morning Canasta club.   We were joined by Milly, who played fiddle on The Road, our homage to Road songs, referencing all the songs below in the chorus:

  • Hit the Road Jack:

  • On the Road Again:

  • Truckin’:

  • Willin’

  • Take It Easy:

We then put down some fiddle and bass on Let it Rain, our 3 minute rock opera and we added a drum machine and horns on Starin’ at My Shoes, which continues to go through its 400th iteration as a song.

Everything Else

First, we’d like to welcome formally Olivia and Jodie, our two new Abubilla Assistants!   We are delighted to have them join this sinking island of misfits and hope that we don’t corrupt their young souls too thoroughly.   Hannah now officially graduates from Abubilla Music Assistant and is now our Resident Scholar at Singing Wells (good golly we love titles!).

Second, most of everything else today was about preparing for our trip to Uganda.    This involved distributing 100 shirts, 50 DVD’s, 120 CD’s and five Singing Wells books across our four duffle bags.   This involved giving up our Abubilla Music monitors to the cause, distributing light batteries, new micro-phones, etc… So much stuff!

Third, we then had poor Rob sign a thousand forms (he still doesn’t know what that was all about).   Something about some Power of Attorney, for some new studio that is rumoured to be in the works.

Next blog you’ll get from me will be from Africa
