A Quick Report from last night’s Half Moon gig….

Written by

First, thank you for all who joined us last night.  We had a great time and we think you did as well, but we always like feedback.    Second, the purpose of this note is to provide a quick summary of our proceedings and promise you that videos will follow.  You saw Greg roaming about in the evening getting great shots and you probably noticed him desparately signalling to Jimmy to press the on button of the camera in front of him.  Jimmy didn’t to forget his one job.

Basically, we are continuing our quest to recreate Jonathan Demme’s Stop Making Sense film of the Talking Heads.   We start with single artists doing acoustic sets, then bring on our bass player, than build and build until we have 12 folks on stage for a glorious finale of smoke, fire and disco balls. Well, that’s the idea.

So, first half was all acoustic.  Andy kicked off with his new song Fireworks and his cover of Boys of Summer, which is enjoying 5,000 views on you tube.

Andy was followed by Gus, our ‘flown the nest’ Discovery Artist who graciously  returned to reprise some of the songs from his first Discovery Album.  There were quite a few shouts from Mum for Walking, which is also one of Jimmy’s favourites.

Tati followed Gus with a couple new songs including Girls, Girls, Girls and then was joined by Andy for BIG Breasts.

Chris followed Tati, singing a number of songs from his upcoming Discovery Album, including ‘Cut My Hair.’  For some reason, we didn’t get a good picture of him, but here’s the song:

From here, Andy and Rob returned to sing Breathe, one of our favourite songs off the last SMCC album.

We then closed the set with Louise and Ed performing Market Town.   Here’s the video from the last gig.

Then we took a break and Louise opened the second half with No Bells…

Then all hell broke loose and we played all sorts of things including King Henry’s Tears and a closing cover of Stand By Me….

That’s it.  Thanks for coming.  Videos to follow in one of our upcoming newsletters…
