Alamar and De rouille et d’os

Written by

Wow.  A couple weeks back we had an amazing weekend at the movies, stumbling on two teriffic films about little boys stuck with their fathers.   For both films, you need to let them just wash over you – and they’re both wonderful.  Added plus…. great music!

  1. Alamar:    A little boy is born of a beach liason with an Italian tourist and a Mexican fisherman.  Five years later, she let’s the father take him back for a couple weeks.  You follow the boy, his dad and grandpa on 5-6 days of fishing.  That’s it.  And it is beautiful.
  2. De rouille et d’os:     A little boy is born of a rather disfucntional couple.   The dad escapes with the boy when the mom uses the boy as a drug mule.  The dad escapes to his sister, meets a woman that has just suffered a terrible accident.  And love is ultimately all around.  That’s it.  And it is beautiful.

And here’s some of the music we discovered:

1. Colin Stetsons, All the Days I missed You.  A pretty beautiful minute of music…

2. Django, Djano, Firewater:

Sorry this is coming late.  Was hung up in my computer….
