Ladyhawke

Written by

Again, this is not Jos, but Olivia, one of the new assistants here at Abubilla. I am here to write a bit of a follow up post to the last blog (which yes, was written over 2 years ago… But at least I’m here now!)

I, also like Abubilla, did not realise that Ladyhawke was from New Zealand! So, as she’s had a new album out this year, I thought I’d give you all a few more deats on her and some videos from her album.

She was born Phillipa ‘Pip’ Brown and was initially part of a band named Two Lane Blacktop, as the lead guitarist.

Two Lane Blacktop – who got their name from the 1971 film – then broke up and Pip joined another band, Teenager in Australia. After an album, she went solo, by the name Ladyhawke – the 1985 Richard Donner movie!

She released her first EP, Paris is Burning, in 2006 and her latest album, Anxiety was released this year. After a quick listen, this album feels a perfect follow up to her debut album, the eponymous Ladyhawke, again a mix of rock and electronic beats. Also, the videos are super cool – love the colours and style!

SHE HAS A HORSE WITH A SKELETON PAINTED ON IT!
