Music in Melbourne

Written by

In Melbourne for the weekend — and popped by Allan’s Music on Bourke Street.   The job was founded in 1850, which is pretty old, given the Melbourne was only founded 15 years earlier and didn’t really kick off until the gold rush in the 1850’s.  Very cool shop. The only negative, for someone that tries to collect local percussion, is they don’t carry clapsticks, which are the traditional aboriginal percussion to accompany the didgeridoo.       Well, at least I couldn’t find them.
