Schools of Rock

Written by

We all saw the great photo this week, of Jagger and Richards together at Primary School:

Raises the obvious question of famous schools of rock and the resulting pictures.  Here are our four other favourite:

1.  Rhode Island School of Design:  Yep, the bloody RI School of Design.  Why?  Gave birth to the Talking Heads – Tina, David and Chris were all alumni.

2.  The Robert E Lee High School.  Okay, this one is a bit more indirect, but Gary Rossington went there and had a PE teacher he hated for hasselling him about his long hair.   The teacher was Leanord Skinner, Gary is a founding member of the band – Lynyrd Skynyrd.

3. Hawthorne High School, California.  Easy one.    Brian, Carl, Danny Wilson and Al Jardine went there – all Beach Boys.   And here’s something you didn’t know – Olivia Harrison, George Harrison’s widwo, graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1965.

4. Goldsmiths University of London.  Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon ()already childhood friends) met Alex James at the college to form Blur.

And to celebrate:

Oh hell, to further celebrate, the famous Joyful, Joyful Scene of Sister Act 2:
