The Olympic Event of the Day

I know that this is the day we’ll hopefully see Jessica Ennis and her unbelievable abs win a medal and probably learn a killer new dance move from Usain Bolt, but my Olympic event of the day, if not the whole games, is the Mens’ 20km Race Walk.
I discovered this 2 minutes ago when I switched on the telly for a little light background Olympics and I couldn’t be happier. The fellas are really very into it, properly concentrating and everything. Sometimes there’s a slow-mo shot that only shows their top halves so it’s all Chariots of Fire. But when it pans down you see they’re not running, they’re power walking, so they look ridiculous. They’re all Marilyn hips swinging and arms pumping. Mr Colombia is whipping out his salsa moves. Many are in crop tops. All are in short shorts. Sometimes they pour water over themselves to cool down but look more like a Herbal Essences advert. I really can’t speak highly enough of it.
