Wicked Musicals
Written by Jodie Bryant
What do you think of when you see the words
SMILEY
CHEESY
DANCEY
HAPPY
(I’m hoping that maybe these are the obvious words to sum up musicals)
However, I have come to the realisation that a lot of people, especially young people are very anti-musical, which just isn’t right. I’ve grown up going to see various shows and am a big supporter of the West End. Because I mean, how can you not love this…
Listening to good ol’ classics sung WELL. I really love musicals if you couldn’t already tell. My favourite being the obvious choice, ‘Wicked,’ which I’ve now seen …3 times…
I guess it’s understandable that some people don’t appreciate musical theatre but I feel that it’s really something that everyone should experience at least a FEW times. You may get a bad experience (I went to see QueenPriscilla of the Desert with my friends…say no more.) Les Mis, out of all musicals is probably the one that I think almost EVERYONE can agree is absolutely amazing. Go to see the theatre version before watching this new movie that’s coming out. Why Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried are in it I don’t understand and I’m worried it’ll completely ruin the classic story that’s been running longer than any other musical in the world.
But hey, I guess they’re reaching out to more people like I am. I don’t really understand it when people don’t appreciate musicals so I just wanted to write about how great they are. And secretly everyone loves the songs so…
I’d say the 3 I have mentioned will not fail to impress. SO GO GO GO !
Live shows are always better and more amusing cos you get to see the performers mess up as well. Here’s a clip of Kerry Ellis cracking her voice in Defying Gravity from when she was the first UK Elphaba in ‘Wicked’… You could be in for a treat! However don’t judge by this cos normally she was amazing and ‘Wicked’ is amazing and I love it.
