13.01.19 This Week in the Studio
Written by Jimmy
Introduction: Today was our ‘grand opening.’ The good news is we had a great crowd, were able to make some music and had a nice lunch at our local pub. The bad news is it was freezing and we all ended up hundling in the control room. And the pub didn’t have Jimmy’s mussles or Andy’s beer but we made it up in chips.
The Music
To break the studio in, we’ve been focused on some remakes of earlier songs. Today we focused on:
- Starin’ at My Shoes: We worked on this last week and brought Sammy in to put down some backing vocals and Mike in to put down some live drums. Yes, the drums are up and running in the isolation booth. Rob re-did the bass track as well.
- These Strings: we focused on life drums and a new bass line.
Everything Else
This was about ‘breaking’ in the new studio and celebrating our move. We had Georges (architect) and Tim (Lawyer/Drummer) stop by. Iggy joined us. Olivia and Sammy constructed furniture and hung posters. Mike hung fairy lights in the isolation booth. Don’t ask. And Rob continued his mice management. Martyn surveyed.
The team huddles in the warmth of the control booth… as we open the studio for the first time.
