13.01.26 This Week in the Studio

It is becoming business as usual at the Bridge.
The Music
Our entire focus this Saturday was getting a good basic structure for a reworking of The Knife Will Come, a song from our first album, Six Months of Saturdays, that also served as our first video (see below). Mike and Rob spent a couple hours in the super-heated isolation booth getting bass and drums right and after they got a good take, Andy put in a little Spanish guitar over the choruses. All good.
Everything Else
We are gradually settling into to our new digs. Saturday brought the arrival of new heaters, new door mats and more musician stools and we find that our early routines are established: a) go room to room turning on the heaters, b) go trap to trap checking on mice and c) unpacking a new shipment of something. Martyn took the lead in a big studio clean up and then settled in for two hours of twiddling. He’s very happy in his very large twiddle room.
Andy and Rob are sorting through the control room and the massive job of labelling is beginning as we’re sorting through where musicians like to play.
Mike is finally settled in the drum room with all kit purchased. He somehow stole one of our big space heaters and go the booth up to Dubai tempatures.
Greg spent Friday and Saturday working through the video room and placing orders. He’ll settle in over next week. Sammy and Olivia continue to work on the ‘mess room’ which sadly is the last to get sorted and remains the junk room as other rooms are cleaned. Sammy dedicated the day to painting our front doors! Olivia enjoy her new role as boss.
We are now also preparing for the upcoming Spanish Jam – our main effort is to get as many basic songs done with the live drums… So lots to do next Saturday.
That’s it.
