13.11.16 This Week in the Studio
Written by oliviawallwork
It was a bit of a later start in the studio today and Jimmy, Rob, Martin, Ed (with Toby in tow), Mike and Olivia were in.
Toby was his usual smiley and dancey self! All that jumping about tired him out…
We worked on Starin’ at my Shoes… which we’ve been trying to get right since 2009. We have got a little closer it seems, as we managed to get the structure right.
Mike’s ‘jazz filter’ was set off during the middle eight. There was a small negotiation (battle) between him and Ed, who likes a jazzy chord. After we settled that – not sure who won – Martyn suggested some Bossanova. As it didn’t actually make the cut… Here is 2 hours of it to fill your Bossanova void…
Luckily Rob was on the ball and found a bass riff that worked in the intro and middle eight – then we broke for a well deserved lunch of pizza.
Matryn needed a bit of a nap.
Then worked on the harmonica… And worked on the harmonica… Toby was exhausted after all of Martyn’s takes, which his daddy was helping him out on.
Mike and Rob put down cajon and bass and Ed did guitar. Jimmy noted that Toby likes shiny things and hitting stuff… Almost as much as Mike does.
