Many more videos have been added to the Singing Wells field report blogs and uploaded to their youtube page – check them both out to hear some more tribal music from the Singing Wells and Ketebul trip to Northern Uganda. One of these videos is Akello singing with the Rubanga Kingom Awach Boys as part of Singing Wells ‘Influences’.
Part of the Singing Wells mission is to ‘introduce tribal East African music to a new generation of musicians and fans who might not consider it relevant today.’ So, they created the Influences Series to fuse both modern and traditional music, using original compositions by artists from their partners at Ketebul Music. Akello was the artist which joined the group in Northern Uganda as the Influences artist, making their invaluable work of documenting traditional music, relevant to today’s audiences.
