Album Review: Songs for Imaginative People
Written by Jodie Bryant
Heard of Darwin Deez?
You probably have heard of the band named after the their main member, who released their last album 3 years ago! I was thinking about it the other day because I now know all the old songs by heart and I’m really glad they’ve come out with this new album.
The thing about the last album that bugged me was the fact that the songs all sounded a bit too similar, whereas ‘Songs for Imaginative People’ really captures lots of different sides to Deez. It seems a lot more thought out and I think they’ve really developed as a band this time.
However, the old album ‘Darwin Deez’ is probably more recognisable music and more ‘up’. But I’m listening to the album now and ‘Songs for Imaginative People’ is pretty relaxed, especially songs like ‘Alice’ and ‘Redshift’. Deez is so imaginative and this album has a lot of different aspects to it, ‘Moonlit’ includes some 80s style guitar but we also get a classic but imaginative love/hate song ‘You can’t be my girl’. It’s quirky and fun.
Okay I really like it, and I love his hair too.
This is the first single from the album, not my favourite track from the album but have a listen.
