Etch a Sketch Founder…. RIP

Andre Cassagnes died at 86 in January. He invented Etch a Sketch. Developed in the 50’s, marketing in the 60’s, Etch a Sketch was elected into the Toy’s Hall of Fame in 1998 and it was named one of top 100 toys of all time in 2003.
The Economist published a really nice obit today – in their final page section. A must read.
Etch a Sketch has also had a big impact on the art world, with artists that have dedicated themselves to work solely in Etch a Sketch as an artistic medium. Here’s some artwork:
