Reason 376 why the Singing Wells Project is important and worth it

You have most likely come across Singing Wells if you are familiar with Abubilla, as it is part of the Abubilla Foundation and lots of news is posted on our website. As well as it being a culturally important project that both preserves and promotes traditional East African music, the recent projects such as the March Pilot session and the trip to Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya to record the Batwa people have inspired others in their quest to visit Africa’s culture through it’s music.
We have received emails from Phd ethnomusicology student Matt Moran regarding his dissertation and his reaction to the trip log. Working on a comparative study of music organisations in Kenya he came across Ketebul Music, partner to Singing Wells, and was astounded, as we were, by the organisation’s success and loyalty to accomplishing it’s mission of supporting Kenyan music.
