Emma Watson is GREAT. Lest We Forget.

When I still did my podcast, I had a weekly section entitled ‘PREW! Promoting Respect for Emma Watson’. It had a catchy jingle, and each week I would discuss la Watson’s many admirable qualities. Sadly I had to stop podcasting due to other commitments like having a life, and having stuff to do (and now – YOGA), but I miss telling people how great Emma Watson is. So here are some wonderful things about her.

1. She doesn’t tweet excessively. Rock on, sister.
2. She has lovely short hair. Everytime I see a picture of her, a neon sign in my head starts flashing GAMINE GAMINE GAMINE. She’s so beautiful.
3. She is super smart and does smart people things, like caring about the environment, and being ethical and stuff.
4. Girl’s got style. True story.
5. She spent about half her life making those Harry Potter films and anyone reasonable would accept that she had the most awesome character of the HP trinity. ‘What now?’ I hear you cry. Yeah Hermione may not be as charmingly haphazard as Harry and Ron, but they would get absolutely nowhere without her. She always has an emergency plan. She stops them getting eaten by that plant in the first one. I know this is less about Emma Watson and more about the alter ego she’s trying to shed, but Hermione has to get a look in. And I don’t think 9 year old Emma would have been cast at all if the directors didn’t really think, deep down, that she could save people from dangerous plants.
6. She keeps trying to go to uni. And even though she left Brown to go to Oxford, which in the eyes of the Daily Fail is a massive sin because… why, exactly?, I respect her right to educate herself even though she is an actress, and (as we all know, don’t we, Daily Fail), actress = whore, right? And god forbid whores educate themselves! No, I never really understood what all the blah about her uni-going habits was trying to convey. But degrees are cool. And I appreciate that Emma knows that.
7. I really liked Ballet Shoes.
8. Her middle name is Duerre. Everyone loves a class middle name.
9. She’s doing a movie version of Beauty & the Beast with Guillermo del Toro. I am excited by this and love her even more for it.
10. Her NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY GRIN! She always looks like she’s just said something sneaky, or saucy, or amusingly infantile. Her photo smile is the smile I do when I talk about poo, and as poo is fun, I am led to believe that Emma Watson has and is loads of fun.

So there we have it. Even though I don’t obsessively watch all of her movies or even know that much about her, I am a huge Emma Watson fan. I am thoroughly pro-Emma, and you should consider being so too.
