More recommendations from the Middle East….
Written by Jimmy
I’ve already given you Tania (click here). For those interested, here’s a fuller list of recommendations for Arabic music, emerging from our team in the Dubai:
1. Fayrouz: Lebanese and the most successful Arabic women performer. Quite traditional. This song though is a little less well known and somewhat more ‘Western’ as a starter:
2. At the other extreme is Hamdan El Abri, who performs throughout Middle East, but is much more funk and soul. Here’s Falling and a nice little cover of Coming Together:
3. Again, in the more traditional camp, we have Marcel Khalife . Here’s a life performance:
4. Wanting a little Lebanese Jazz? There’s Rima Khcheich:
5. Then we’ve got Arab Indie, from Mashrou Laila. Here’s Raksit Leila – I love the energy of this song. Wants me to put on my Arab boots and dance in the sand…or something like that.
Okay. There were 20 more but that should start you off…
