Hannah’s Top Five: 27th Feb 2010

Hello! I’m a newbie, and it’s my first day at abubilla as Louise’s assistant (because she’s important). I’m at Jimmy’s house and my first task (after giving Lewie a cuddle and making a few cups of tea) is: Read the blogs on the website. So I read through some which were posted when this was first set up and I came across my favourite five things…

1. Jimmy posted background info to lyrics of many of the SMCC songs and my ultimate favourite is definitely the reasons behind “Too Many Weddings” and the gorgeous reference to ‘Love Actually’ (and after watching it on Valentines day I was reminded how awfully good that film is). And really, the best scene is that bit. It’s so cool.
So check it out.

2. I have just met all the animals, including the fluff ball which is Lewie, Sammy the angry cat and Toby. I laughed out loud when reading ‘Toby and his stones’ posted by Jimmy, it’s brilliant!

3. I have also just met Kathy and noticed her Saint-ness. I then came across “‘Kathy the Saint’ and The Studios.” a blog by Jimmy, expressing his gratitude to his wife who has put up with his buying things and taking up room and space and silent air.
“Kit is a big part of Jimmy’s life. If it has a plug he really, really wants it.”

4. Okay so I haven’t met Andy yet, but his ‘thought of the day’ blog in november last year took me a while to digest
but I think anything these days to make you slow down for a minute or think is invaluable, so read read read.

5. And lastly at number 5. A truly great song which I heard in a truly great film was mentioned in the Song Discovery Number One, and it is in fact the first one in the nominations for best cover:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole ‘IZ’ from 50 first dates. Ah I had forgotten, it’s wonderful.
