Wish I was born in the 80s…

Ever since I was nine-years-old, after being cast as the Ring Leader in a circus themed dance to ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Eurythmics on holiday, I’ve felt a slight affinity with synthpop. The strength of which, I have suddenly realised with the recent release of two 80s influenced tracks.

The first is Skepta’s Lay Her Down, ft. Kano. Not usually known for his funky, auto-tuned tracks, his typical Grime/British hip hop style is almost unrecognisable in his latest release. Unlike anything on the main stream charts, Skepta and Kano have brought the true 80s synthpop vibe… and I’m loving it! I always knew I was missing out on not being born in the 80s…

As you can see, he’s really changed his game and ventured out onto something new (or rather 30 years old). Never thought I’d hear my mother saying ‘Oh I love this song, sounds like something I used to listen to’ about a Skepta song. The Fresh Prince theme to the video is a bit cliched for my liking but a bit of roller blading is always fun!

The second has a stronger dance vibe, by Hot Natured ft Anabel Englund: Reverse Skydiving. Deep house beats with Anabel’s stunning vocals makes for a really cool track.
