Song Discovery (Playlist: A)- Hunter

Written by

So here is the first in 27 glorious song discoveries.
I have created these by going through my ipod alphabetically, and any song I want to listen to all the way through, the perfect litmus test, I write down. So here is the first batch: the letter “A”.

A Bomb in Wardour Street- The Jam
A brilliant cover of the Kinks’ “David Watts”, true to the original yet a lot of fun in its own right.

A Cowboy’s Work Is Never Done- Sonny and Cher
I am generally not a big fan of Sonny and Cher at all, but this song just sounds very….cool. It has aged surprisingly well and I love giving it a listen.

Aftermath- R.E.M
From their album “Around the Sun”, Aftermath highlights the softer side of this album and is a nice soft easy to listen to track.

After The Gold Rush- Neil Young
I’m a sucker for all things Neil Young, and this is him at his best. Whether you’re in a deep depression or wonderfully happy this song will speak to you.

Agony- Eels
A brilliant insight into Mark Everrett’s state of mind during his battle with manic depression, really beautiful song writing.

A Hard Rains a-Gonna Fall- Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan singing about nuclear holocoust, what more could you want?

The sound of this is really great, a nice sweet song with an almost psychedlic mix.

Ain’t Nuttin’ But Music- D12
An upbeat fun song from Eminem’s band in their prime, all about not taking music too seriously.

Alabama- The Doors
One of The Doors’ more classic rock song, a light soft song.

Alicia quays- Jamie T
Another drunken masterpiece folk/punk/rapper Jamie T.

All Alone- Gorillaz
With electric synths, the rapping of Roots Manuva, and the soft voice of Martina Topley-Bird, this is a very cool song from the Gorillaz.

All Along The Watchtower- Bob Dylan
Oh I do love Bob Dylan, you should too.

All Along The Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
From Voodoo Chil, Hendrix makes this song his own, showcasing his talent as a guitarist, which has earned him international fame.

All Day and All Night- Kinks
If this doesn’t put you in a good mood, I don’t know what will.

All In A Day’s Work- Eels
A really intense song here from Shootenanny, the relentless beat is strangely addictive.

All I Really Want To Do- Bob Dylan
I do apologise for all this Dylan, but if you don’t have these songs, you need them, desperately.

The pinnacle of fun Britpop

Anarchy In The U.K.- The Sex Pistols
The pinnacle of angst Britpunk

Angles- Dan Le Sac V.s Scroobius Pip
