Day One Studio Report: Winter 2009 Spanish Jam

Written by

Two songs, two song fragments, 6 mixes, 25 San Miguels, 3 bottles of white wine, 47 Diet Cokes, one bag of fritas patatas classica and an additional back of Bugles.  A good Friday of the Winter 2009 Spanish Jam.

For those tracking progress therefore.  Actual Spanish Jam launched on Thursday night at 1245AM when Andy woke up Jimmy.  Jimmy therefore invaded studio and made Andy work with him on Big Old Bird until 3AM.  We cut a first track and recorded it on … Andy’s mobile phone.    Next day, Studio time officially started at 1030, where we spend morning on Invading London.  Not sure about the song, but comes in under 3 minutes so jumps to the top of songs for 2010!  We then played around with two little fragments — one slow and one fast that we’ll build on for Saturday 28 November.  After short break in the sun (yes, despite weather forecasts to the contrary, beautiful day), we launced into Big Old Bird.  Jimmy mastered the Robato, which is a very clever style of music where you don’t keep time.  Fun to watch Louise trying to put backing vocals on a ever changing robato chorus.

Andy then tirelessly worked on mixes while the rest of us played canasta, finishing up I Love You Anyway and King of the Biosphere.    And we ‘grazed’ which is NOT the same thing as Worrying Livestock.
