New Zealand and its Music!

This is not Jos, this is Abubilla, but we’re about to fill you in on some cool things about Auckland.

First, the fact that it was originally called ‘Tamaki Makau Rau,’ meaning ‘a maiden with 100 lovers’.

Secondly, it is a nice source for good music for us foreigners to feast on. Maybe some of you never knew this, but Crowded House, the wonderful band who came up with delicious tunes such as Weather With You and Fall at Your Feet, homes the gem Neil Finn, who, along with his brothers, are from New Zealand! Enjoy.

Another cool thing, Ladyhawke, popular singer who recently cropped up in various festivals is Kiwi. I only just discovered this and thought I should remind you all that her My Delirium is pretty nice.

On to some awesome local bands that I discovered, such as Midnight Youth, who are a rock band from Auckland who formed four years ago and have this very nice song on their album The Brave Don’t Run with some really nice guitar:

And if you like drum and bass, check out Auckland’s very own Concord Dawn

And now. My sister is on her Gap Yah and she has just returned home from her travels around the world, which included Auckland, New Zealand. She, who did actually pick up some of the local popular music, says Tiki Taane is everywhere over there, so listened. I liked.

This, along with Fat Freddy’s Drop which is nice and bluesy, so check this out too.

And there it is, my collection of Kiwi music that I discovered. Gonna go update my itunes now.
