Greetings from Bean-town, where I will attempt to keep you up to speed with the latest music–from what’s new in Universities (sadly more from the perspective of professors) to good live groups.  And from someone who saw Cream, Janis Joplin, and the Band live, you’ll get a more “seasoned” (as my kids would say) perspective on things – linking what’s new to what’s good in the rich history of rock and roll.

Boston’s Banditas

Written by

Hey it’s Jodie being a voice for Boston today as it hasn’t had a blog in a while!

So I was looking into bands in Boston and came across a studio session recording by a band called, ‘Banditas.’ And I listened to a few tracks and I thought …this is kind of different and cool. Banditas are a new-ish country folk band  with a twist based in Boston USA, made up of 3 girls Hayley, Molly and Candace.

The girls blend rock with folk and want to make sure that that’s very clear. THEY ARE NOT A FOLK BAND. However secretly I am definitely hearing a very strong country aspect to their songs. The song Harmony Glass is good and is a slow beat under some incredible vocals. The girls make it clear that they’re strong individuals singing, “I’m gonna shoot up my man with his gun.”

Banditas are very Boston based and played at the Boston Music Awards this year as well as playing the Girls Rock Camp Boston Benefit and Volunteer Mixer in 2011. They were also nominated for the “Americana Artist of the Year” in the Boston Music Awards.

You can see from watching their videos that Banditas love what they do from their smiles and passionate vocals. I probably couldn’t listen to them for too long as all their songs have such slow beats. However, have a listen.
